EP. 1521: Screenwriter Alessandro Incalza (DIRE STREETS)

Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPh-ZxTT4GE

LOGLINE: In the 1940s, prisoners — including infamous mob boss Joe Blunda — were released to defend America from Nazi spy attacks. What happened to them remains a chilling mystery: none were ever seen alive again.

Get to know the writer:

What is your screenplay about?

My screenplay tells a story that was circulating at the time — it captures society during the World War era and highlights an undeniable truth: Power is often manipulated by ruthless agendas.

What genres does your screenplay fall under?

The genre is historical thriller.

How would you describe this script in two words?

Dire Straits

How long have you been working on this screenplay?

So many, but especially Superman (1978). When I was a kid, I watched it over and over again. Same with the Lord of the Rings. I would go through phases where I’d obsessively rewatch certain films — the ones that gave me a sense of hope deep inside.

How many stories have you written?

I worked on this script casually in my spare time over the past three years. Yes — I believe a draft needs to sit and “mature” a bit before you lock in the final version.

A writer tasked with writing a true event is taken by the CIA to cover their tracks. However, his smart mind out smarts them when his characters learn their role in his book and save him

Get to know the writer:

What is your screenplay about?

“John Burgess is all about writing for the high technology industry, until his life takes an interesting turn. He wakes early one morning with a new story in his head that he just has to write. Compelled to write each morning, the lines between fact and fiction are blurred, as John becomes a pivotal character in his own novel. Explosions, false identities, terrorists, international intrigue, high tech surveillance techniques, the U.S. government and kidnapping, all conspire to put John’s life in serious danger until the main characters in his book rescues him.”

What genres does your screenplay fall under?

Action/Adventure/Mystery/Spy Thriller

Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

ENTANGLED explores the relationship between consciousness, time as perceived by humans, and our quantum reality. The film will keep the audience guessing. What is real? What is fantasy? The audience will be guessing throughout especially when the last scene plays out.

EP. 1470: Screenwriter Maria Pearce (KAM60 The Butterfly Prince)

Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xYkI__GTug

The butterfly prince is a story of a fictional character K.A.M.60 that attempt to honour the great French astronomer Charles Messier who developed the Messier catalogue and discovered many Messier objects in the sky in particular in the Virgo constellation. In the book K.A.M.60 real name is = Karlex Antoine Messier 60 and he is part of the Messier family. In real life The Messier 60 object is the twin/butterfly galaxies.

Get to know the writer:

What is your screenplay about?

The butterfly prince is a story of a fictional character K.A.M.60 that attempt to honour the great French astronomer Charles Messier who developed the Messier catalogue and discovered many Messier objects in the sky in particular in the Virgo constellation. K.A.M.60 real name is = Karlex Aristoteles Messier 60 and he is part of the Messier family. In real life The Messier 60 object is the twin/butterfly galaxies.

The plot is about jealousy, family feuds adventures and love. The constellations of Libra and Leo that are a couple have declared the war to the Virgo constellation just because of jealousy, they wiped out the Virgo constellation population. The only people left are the Messier family. They decided to send KAM60 (1) of their sons to the planet earth in a quest to find 10 virgins/maidens to married the 10 Messier brothers and repopulated the Virgo constellation again.

K.A.M.60 Embarks in a quest and very interested journey where he not only achieved his goals of find the correct Maidens whom married the Messier brothers, along the way he meets very interesting characters such as Centaurs, witches, Mythological creatures, Gods, zodiac constellations etc. He also lived the most amazing adventures rescuing, helping, curing, advising and even fighting for or with people once he lands in the planet Earth. Also, all the way the constellations of Libra and Leo (the bad guys on this plot) will do something to stop K.A.M.60 to achieve his goals but like a great hero he always defeats them.

Additional, despite that this is a fantasy book most of the heroes KAM60, the maidens etc are based in real people. People that inspired me and that I believe will inspire others. Example of these people are; Charles Messier, Juana Cruz the 1st female Spanish bullfighter, Magdalena Zeger the 1st female astronomer, Marie Jose Perec, the best French female sprinter, ancient civilizations such as the Mayans, the Olmecs, the Dahomey’s, the Vikings, The Amazon female warriors etc.

There are also some interesting twists in the story such as the inclusion of fake/false Maidens, the Emerald ring that determines which are the real maidens/virgins, the butterflies tattoos and character names (most maidens have a butterfly name and of course all of them must have a butterfly tattoo, like KHAM 60 also had one) there is plenty of adventures, magic, mysteries, suspense, drama, mystic, action, Love, friendship, team work etc Plus the stunning locations around the world where all these adventures occurs.

EP. 1465: Screenwriter Nathan Burt (LOST & FOUND)

Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPQ_695FAF8

Summary: Martin’s mother passes away after a two year battle with cancer and his long lost best friend Abe finally shows up after seven years. They have to catch up and fill each other in on what they have missed out on -only to realise that they might have missed out on being more than best friends.

Get to know the writer:

What is your screenplay about?

The logline for my script is about as basic of a summary as I could muster: “A reunion at a funeral between two friends who haven’t seen each other in seven years leads to conversations regarding loss, relationships, career, and family trauma.” Beyond that barebones description, within the span of the day these two guys will spend together, they realize how deeply impactful the other one was on their lives when they were younger.

What genres does your screenplay fall under?

The screenplay straddles back and forth between drama and comedy throughout.

Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

Man, that’s a tough question, and I’m not sure I can come up with an answer that isn’t self-congratulatory on some level – haha! But, I think one of the things I like so much about these characters is that, throughout the script, they have the chance to work through issues that I would hope are universal for so many people, regardless of how one identifies.

In the dilapidated streets of Brooklyn, Josh runs a failing employment agency that’s haunted by three ghosts. Josh is reluctantly recruited by them to help solve a series of murders. Of Course, Death’s AKA-Al curiosity is piqued and decides he’s in too.

Get to know the writer:

What’s the screenplay about?

It”s about a guy by the name of Josh, who runs or attempts to run an employment agency in the rough side of Booklyn. Josh’s demeanor on the outside is mild mannered, however, there is another side to him that is better left buried. He is able to see ghosts, for whatever reason, and there are 3 living upstairs who are his friends. Mary, his secretary, likes Josh and although Josh doesn’t show it, he likes her too. The three ghosts, Jazmine, George and Detective O’Shaughnessy, frustrated with their ghost boredom ask Josh’s if they can help somehow solve the crime of the young girls who have gone missing or have been murdered. Reluctantly Josh agrees . As it turns out, Mary can also see ghosts as well to her surprise when she stumble unpon Josh and the ghosts upstairs. To make a long story short, they all embark on plan to save the missing girls, and death, AKA, Al, catches wind and decides to help them as a change of pace. Their adventures begin, Mary winds up getting kidnapped and almost dying, death takes a liking to Jazmine, the Columbian rebels, living under immigrations radar in the area come to help them as well as the Brooklyn Police department. Does everyone live happily ever after? Maybe not, as it turns out Mary works for hell, let me rephrase that, she is the queen of hell, and it’s her job not to let the dogooders do too much good and upset the balance of good and evil. But no one knows Mary’s ulterior motives expect maybe death, AKA, Al.

EP. 1395 - Screenwriter Audrey Mosdell (MAGGIE MAY)

Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7fvjESla-Q

Get to know the writer:

1. What is your screenplay about?

Maggie May is a story about falling in love with your best friend and the fallout of that experience. This theme is set to the background of a female fictional rock band.

2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?

Maggie May is a drama but could be considered as a coming of age sub genre. It can be considered a musical as well.

3. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

Whether or not you are queer, many people share the experience of falling in love with a best friend. Maybe that’s worked out, but often we have experiences with unrequited love. Additionally in these times, it’s more important than ever to highlight unabashedly queer stories.

Get to know the screenwriter:

Every one can identify with the struggle of finding your calling and living it out. This story shows what happens when we decide to do things based on our own wisdom (which can be flawed) and not relying on God’s wisdom. It asks that question, “If you had the power to do what you wanted, how would you wield that power and at what cost?” It shows what the love of a family can do to heal the wrongs of one’s actions. What is more important, family or career? Can it be both or do we tend to put one over the other for the wrong reasons.

Get to know the writer:

The script fits right in with the suspense genre as the characters up the ante in their competition. There’s a sense of dread that builds throughout the story and isn’t let go of until the final page. With two character’s stuck together, drama plays as big a role in keeping things interesting and emotional. You can think of Inkwell as a mini-episode of The Twilight Zone.

I think my 1-hour pilot script would make a fantastic television show.
